Filming included the Hempstead House, and the surrounding Guggenheim Estate located at the Sands Point Preserve. The 216-acre Sands Point Preserve, a Nassau County Park which is managed by the Friends of Sands Point Preserve, is located on the Long Island Sound. It is dominated by the massive Hempstead House, the nearby Castle Gould stable, and also includes a second mansion, “Falaise,” that was built by Capt. Harry Guggenheim around 1923. (aerial view)

Al Pacino is one of only three actors to have been nominated for an Academy Award for both Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actor in a Supporting Role in the same year. The films were Scent of a Woman and Glengarry Glenross, respectively. The other two actors were Barry Fitzgerald who received nominations for Leading and Supporting roles in Going My Way in 1945 (Supporting Role – Won) and Jamie Foxx for Ray (Leading Role – Won) and Collateral (Supporting Role – Nominated) in 2005.
