www.LONGISLANDFILM.COM

Hello everyone,

Some of these bounced back, so I’m resending, and have included some more information on celebrities and events!

The Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) is almost here!! July 9 – 17, come to the Bellmore Movies to see hundreds of short and feature-length independent films from the world over, including films shot right here on Long Island. Check out our schedule at http://longislandfilmexpo.com/events/. And paid Filmmakers Connection members get a $2 discount on all tickets! We also have a 2-for-1 special Monday through Friday for

Seniors – any film blocks that begin at 5 pm or earlier, bring a friend for free!

We also have some incredible panels for you. All of them are free (except the Filmmakers Breakfast Panel which is $5 – but free for Filmmakers Connection Members) – Learn about the tax credits for filming, hear about film distribution and financing from a panel of industry executives, further your knowledge of screenwriting at our Write Stuff Panel, and our filmmakers breakfast panels is always entertaining and informative. Whether you’re an actor, or want to be an actor, check out our “How to Improv When the Unexpected Happens” with Katha Cato of the Queens World Film Festival and “So You Want to Be an Actor” workshop with Joseph Halsey. If you’ve wanted to get a start in the industry, or are already in it, but want some tips for how to push ahead, this is the workshop for you. Have a difficult role you need to prepare for, Joe’s your guy - http://longislandfilmexpo.com/panels-events/

Also – for our local filmmakers – we have a NYS Loves Film Roadshow roundtable for you -

NY LOVES FILM ROADSHOW In the Filmmakers Lounge

Meet the team from the New York State Governor’s Office for Motion Picture and Television Development for a roundtable discussion of all things productive re: producing in New York State – tax credits, location scouting, finding stages and crew, and more. Whether you’re a first time filmmaker wondering where to start or a veteran producer looking to catch up on the latest, this informal face-to-face Q&A is an invaluable opportunity to Meet Team NY and hear firsthand about all the great things New York State has to offer. You MUST RSVP for this – 25 max! And you must be from Nassau or Suffolk County.

And don’t forget our closing night part on Thursday, July 17, 2014!! We’re celebrity wrangling as I type – but so far William Sadler is in for closing night (schedule permitting) and Lynn Cohen from the Hunger Games and Law & Order!! We’ll be honoring actor/musician Robert Davi (Goonies, Die Hard, Showgirls etc), and other presenters include Brian O’Halloran (Clerks, Dogma), Kevin Brown (30 Rock), former NFLer, Big Daddy Richard Salgado, musician from Taking Back Sunday, John Nolan- and more!!
